When I remember my first cover letter and CV, I wonder how easy it was for me to think I was going to get hired with the content that once made me feel like a king.
I could not but wonder how I would have bluntly accepted other people’s applications over mine if they presented a well-written cover letter and CV compared to the one I had.
Now here is the fact, I would not have grown or learnt if that cover letter or CV never existed. It would have been a great lie to think I would get to this level without making those mistakes or taking those ignorant steps. Even without a mentor, I was able to learn a lot in my failure.
To think that a young lady who was a novice at writing a cover letter or cv is now regarded as overqualified because of the content of her brilliant cover letter and CV is one thing that should be applauded.
I have come this far not because I have stayed idled or scared of making mistakes. Truth be told I have been down a lot of time when the email “We regret to inform you that we have decided to move on with other candidates that are more qualified for this role” drops in my inbox, however, I have been out stronger and better every time I review my CV or cover letter.
